Shala Taylor, MA, LPC

Shala Taylor is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. Shala earned a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Master of Arts in Teaching, both from Lindenwood University. She additionally holds a Master's degree in Business Management. Shala began working in the behavioral health field in 2012 as an adolescent substance abuse counselor.  She then went on to manage a school-based therapy program for several years. Shala has an extensive history in education, training and development. Shala has developed and facilitated several trainings in the mental health and education arena. Shala has certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Neuro-sequential Model of Therapy (NMT) and Substance Abuse. Additionally, Shala provides licensure supervision for  individuals seeking to complete requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri.

Shala takes a collaborative approach to therapy by facilitating clients through self-discovery. She challenges your thinking which aids you in managing your emotions and developing healthy behaviors. She enjoys working with couples to help navigate their therapeutic approach based upon the specific needs of the couple. Her holistic approach to counseling addresses all areas of life that may be adversely affecting your daily functioning.

Taijuana Wells, MA, PLPC

Taijuana Wells has joined the team as a Provisionally Licensed Therapist (PLPC). Taijuana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Missouri - St. Louis and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Lindenwood University.

Taijuana has more than 30 years of experience in the medical field which has afforded her the opportunity to work with clients with various health conditions. She has spent several years as a caretaker for her parents which prompted her interest in working with the aging population. She specifically has interest in helping individuals with change of life transitions. Taijuana focuses on mindfulness techniques as a method to reduce anxiety and stress.

 

Taijuana accepts the following forms of payment:

Carolyn Fulgham, MSW, LCSW

Carolyn Fulgham is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Credentialed Community Health Worker. Carolyn received her Bachelor of Science degree In African American Studies and Psychology at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan (2004) and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Washington University in St. Louis (2011).

 

Carolyn started in the social work field as a School-based Therapist in 2012. She has worked in public, charter, and therapeutic residential schools, doing both therapy and case management. She has also worked in a church resource center and an FQCH clinic servicing both adults and youth. She has developed and implemented youth programs teaching social and behavior skills while also exposing clients to various community opportunities. She has facilitated sessions on social, emotional, communication and behavior skills. These sessions have included self- confidence/self-esteem building, friendship skills, grief counseling and more. She has worked with clients individually and/or in small groups depending on the needs of the clients. She has established and facilitated several after school and summer camp groups. Carolyn enjoys working with clients using arts and crafts, cooking and other creative avenues. She believes that a person who understands their value to society will strive to do their very best and will achieve great things.

 

Carolyn works with clients that may have challenges with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, etc. She employees the use of CBT, Motivational Interviewing, person- centered and solution focused modalities.

Sydney Byrd, MEd, PLPC, NCC

Sydney is a pre-licensed clinician under the supervision of Shala Taylor, MA, LPC. She is a St. Louis native who earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in May 2022. Sydney has a passion for working with young adults and adolescents that are struggling with racial and cultural concerns, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Sydney works with her clients to become an advocate for their own personal needs to lay the groundwork for a productive therapeutic space.

 

Sydney has worked with clients that have challenges with anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, trauma, unhealthy relationships, and clients struggling to cope with daily life stressors. Sydney believes that therapy is a multifaceted approach to achieve wellness in all areas of life and uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to guide clients toward a healthy mental space. Sydney also focuses on the concept of the eight dimensions of wellness with clients and uses this concept to help clients create a balanced life where they feel fulfilled.
